“Ready to Reduce”?
We are looking for projects ready for implementation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
For the second time, the University of Bern is launching the “Ready to Reduce” ideas competition to support concrete projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Do you have a great idea that can be implemented immediately? Would you like to contribute to the energy consumption reduction and finally put your idea into practice? Then do not hesitate submit your project.
We are looking for projects ready for implementation that contribute to reducing greenhouse gases in the following areas (list is not exhaustive):
- Reuse and other circular economy measures
- Energy efficiency and energy-saving measures
- Sustainable mobility
- Resource efficiency in laboratories and research infrastructures
Funding framework and conditions
- Requirements: Projects that can be implemented independently to reduce greenhouse gases at the University of Bern
- Funding amount: At least one project will be funded with up to 12,000 CHF
- Project duration: 1 year – max. 2 years
- Eligibility: All members of the University of Bern (UniBE), including UniBE students
- Funding period: 2026 – 2027
- Deadline for submitting project ideas: 30 September, 2026
- Consent to data use for research purposes: As part of the competition’s implementation and evaluation, we would like to use the submitted entries and the associated data for research purposes. This is intended to help gain valuable insights and further develop future projects and formats. Your data will, of course, be used in compliance with applicable data protection regulations and exclusively in anonymized or pseudonymized form. Your data will be treated confidentially and will not be shared with third parties.
Please submit your ideas to the Department of Sustainable Development in the form of a brief description of the measure, including the approximate effort required and the reduction potential. The detailed entry form, including the evaluation criteria, can be found at the following link:
